Boral's Deer Park operations are the premier facilities of the building and construction materials business in Victoria. The operations include a hard rock quarry, asphalt plant and concrete batch plant. Each makes a substantial contribution to the ongoing growth and development of Melbourne.
The quarry's relatively close location in relation to the Melbourne CBD has allowed it to make a substantial contribution to the city's skyline over time. As a 24 hour a day, six days per week facility, the quarry efficiently supplies material to city infrastructure projects such as rail and tramway work carried out after hours.
About the Opportunity
We are actively seeking a driven Quarry Manager to oversee our Deer Park Quarry. Reporting to the Metro Operations Manager, this role is responsible for leading all functionalities of the Quarry, specifically focusing on safety, environment and quality control, operational and financial sustainability and people management.
With an uncompromising commitment to safety, the successful candidate must have a genuine interest in the day to day management and challenges of running a Quarry operation, including the ultimate responsibility for safety performance, production targets, quality control, customer liaison and LEAN implementation. Additionally, this role is responsible for managing financial outcomes and achieving set budgets and targets.
This is a permanent opportunity offering working days of Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be supported by a dedicated Quarry Support Manager and a strong team of Production/ Plant Operators.
About You
To be successful for this role, you must demonstrate:
- Proven experience supervising a Quarry or Mining operations
- Strong leadership attributes including initiative to identify, manage, and solve issues as they arise
- Relevant Quarry management qualifications and/or tertiary qualifications (highly regarded)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all stakeholders
- Experience developing and managing budgets including controlling expenditure and costs will be highly regarded
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing will be highly regarded
- High levels of resilience and a determination to deliver successful outcomes
- Excellent people management and mentoring skills
